GUIDELINES

Be Safe with You & Your Patient

My storage website's goal is to share any radiation therapy documents, consisting of theoretical and practical aspects, also guidelines, handbooks and protocols as well.

RADIOBIOLOGY

Dose Effects on Tumor & Normal Tissue

Radiobiology (also known as radiation biology) is a field of clinical and basic medical sciences that involves the study of the action of ionizing radiation on living things, especially health effects of radiation. Ionizing radiation is generally harmful and potentially lethal to living things but can have health benefits in radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer and thyro-toxicosis. Its most common impact is the induction of cancer with a latent period of years or decades after exposure. High doses can cause visually dramatic radiation burns, and/or rapid fatality through acute radiation syndrome. Controlled doses are used for medical imaging and radiotherapy.

QUANTEC

Quantitative Analysis of Normal Tissue Effects in the Clinic

A "clinician's view" on using the QUANTEC information in a responsible manner is presented along with a description of the most commonly used normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models. A summary of organ-specific dose/volume/outcome data, based on the QUANTEC reviews, is included.

MPPG

Medical Physics Practice Guidelines

MPPGs are intended to provide the medical community with a clear description of the minimum level of medical physics.

CONTOURING

Target delineation & OAR definition

Contouring atlases are developed for use in some clinical trials as a tool to define and plan clinical target radiation dose volumes as part of radiotherapy treatment planning

PROTOCOLS

International standards of clinical implementation

About international standards of radiotherapy workflow, including clinical and physical aspects, such as preparatory imaging, treatment planning, delivery and evaluation, with the aim to outline a consistent framework covering the entire radiotherapy process.
